Description

The Scientific name for Matrixyl (20mg) is Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (formerly Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3). It is a combination of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-7 and Palmitoyl-Oligopeptide. Matrixyl came to being by using a series of anti-wrinkle actives that comprise Matrikine, a peptide that aids the body’s proper functioning of many components of the skin’s structure.

Matrixyl is a range of active ingredients that mirror the natural process of skin regeneration. Above all, it potentially stimulates the lower layers of the skin to heal themselves, by producing cells known as fibroblasts, which accelerates wound healing. This is important, since the aging process causes these fibroblasts to lose their ability to produce adequate collagen.

Matrixyl can potentially stimulate the “matrix” layers in the skin — primarily collagen and fibronectin. When stimulated, the skin produces more collagen. Subsequently, loss of collagen is what leads to thinning skin and the wrinkling of newly inelastic skin. In conclusion, Matrixyl helps to counteract this natural part of the aging process.
